The Bring In Your Parents Day initiative will take place in workplaces around the world on Thursday, November 5.
Organised by the professional networking site LinkedIn, the initiative started in 2013 after research revealed that more than one in three parents had no idea what their child did for a living.
Before it took off worldwide, Bring In Your Parents Day was piloted in the LinkedIn Dublin office in 2013, when more than 100 parents came in to see first-hand what their children do each day.
Following the Dublin pilot’s success, more than 55,000 parents across the globe have visited their children’s workplaces to learn more about what they do.
LinkedIn spokesperson Wendy Murphy commented,
Parents have a huge amount of value and wisdom when it comes to starting and developing a career to share with their children.
Bring In Your Parents Day will be held in 18 countries including Ireland, the United Kingdom, United States, France, The Netherlands, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Australia, India, Canada, Singapore, China, Japan, New Zealand and Hong Kong.
We’re sure you’ll be glad to hear that LinkedIn is encouraging businesses across Ireland to get involved and sign up to Bring in Your Parents Day. If you want to get your workplace involved in the initiative, click here.
