Ditch The Drink – 6 Wholesome Activities To Do This Weekend
Go dry, but don't BE dry
The weekend is here again and you intend to brave it without alcohol. Don't worry, we've got your back as usual. Check out the six wholesome activities we've hand picked for you to try out this weekend...
A Midsummer Night's Dream
You're already being so good by avoiding the drink, why not be cultural too by going to see a classic play? Chapterhouse Theatre Company present this Shakespearean comedy at Howth Castle, featuring star-crossed romance and mischievous fairies. With a cast kitted out in faithfully designed Elizabethan costumes, the production features a wonderful musical score and impressive puppets. You may have to act fast to catch it though, as it starts at 6.30 this evening. Click here to book your ticket.
The Green Door Market
You're being a healthy person this weekend, so be around some healthy produce at The Green Door Market. Here you can peruse stall upon stall of the freshest organic fruit and vegetables, meat, fish and shellfish, excellent quality bread and baked goods, cheese and other dairy products, charcuterie, smoked meats and fish, olives, oils, pestos, preserves, confectionary goods, juices and smoothies. You can find it all at 18 Newmarket, Dublin 8.
Bernard Shaw Flea Market
Pop into the Bernard Shaw this Sunday and you can browse its Flea Market. Among the stalls you'll find vintage threads, shoes, jewellery, art, records, and even a Mr Freeze party, while some decent coffee will be on hand courtesy of 3FE.
Irish National Coffee Throwing Championship
While you're at the Bernard Shaw, you may as well take part in the Irish National Coffee Throwing Championship. As we've told you earlier in the week, this is a competition for a national title where you must try to throw a 1kg bag of coffee beans as far as you can without spilling any coffee beans. Exciting stuff, plus your registration fee goes to charity, so it's all good. You can register for the competition here.
Family Day Design Workshops
Here's one for all the family, the Family Day Design Workshop at Irish Design 2015 in Dublin Castle. Happening every other Saturday at the ID2015 Design Hub, these fun family workshops
encourage creative thinking, help to build dexterity and introduce
children to new craft skills through playful experimentation. Places are limited though so book a place by emailing DesignHub@IrishDesign2015.ie.
The Great Dublin Swim
You're doing so well with all your healthy living this weekend, so why not top it off by joining the Great Dublin Swim? Supported and sponsored by the Dublin City Council, the event aims to promote the art of open water
swimming and to ensure both young and adults enjoy the challenge and
excitement that this event offers. If you want to get involved with the event on Saturday morning, click
