The Pepper is dead, long live the Pepper.
The sudden news and subsequent announcement of a closing bash has dominated many people’s talk of nightlife for the weekend, but as well as this mammoth event there’s plenty of other great options going too!
It’s not all quality tunes on the decks as well: The Sugar Club hosts two very intriguing live acts this weekend and a psychedelic rock festival takes over the Grand Social, both involving plenty of home grown talent on offer.
Twisted Pepper Closing Weekender
Let’s just jump straight into it. Unless you’ve been hiding under a gigantic rock you’ve heard the news and indeed it’s quite likely that you’re more a little emotional about the whole thing. The best way to express that? Getting on down for the huge big goodbye event, obviously.
With an enormous among of iconic local acts scheduled to play, this state the fucking obvious, both the Friday and Saturday nights of this event will be almighty craic, with supreme quality tunes running throughout.
Breakdown of the main names on each night:
Friday: Clu, Ben Bix and Feather, Juice, Junior Spesh, Sim Simma.
Saturday: Redsetta, Hidden Agenda, Not Saying Boo, Mr Jones, TR-One.
Check the image below for the full set list. Getting tickets in advance is most definitely advisable.
Saturday
Reverberation Psychedelic Festival @ Grand Social
Day Two of this weekend event looks the slightly tastier option if I had to pick. This is an exciting line up for anyone interested in music across the garage rock-psychedelic rock spectrum. UK-based Dead Rabbits and local act Cian Nugent + The Cosmos are two particularly inviting names on this bill.
Oldskool – The Evolution of Hip Hop @ The Sugar Club
This is another very enticing live hip hop event brought to us by the kind people of the Sugar Club. This time round a live 7-piece band takes the stage to perform a stunning sequence of the hip hop’s great masterpieces.
Check out the teaser vid below and picture this all going off live, sounds kinda beautiful dunnit?
Sunday
Disco Brunch @ Drury Buildings
If you were too slow getting tickets to our sold out Brunch Club this Saturday, this is the next best thing. You can expect cocktails, great food and bossin’ disco anthems to round off your weekend very nicely altogether. Tickets available here.
Nova Collective Presents: Samba De Amor @ The Sugar Club
This exciting Dublin-based collective are on a mission to prove that Irish people have the necessary rhythm to dance like a Brazilian. This intriguing question took the band to Dun Laoghaire pier to film the attempts some weeks back, and a fantastic video ensued (check it out below). To further their cause, these guys have scheduled a party involving an expression of Brazilian music and culture, which will be taking place at the Sugar Club this Sunday.
Led by the extremely talented pianist Louis Ryan, this group of Latin/Jazz players are a truly unique experience in Dubin’s music scene. Just the type of summery music to compliment the rare streak of sun we’ve been having of late!
