The recently opened La Creperie Pierre Grise is now offering an “enjoyable, rewarding French experience” at The Harbour in Greystones.

Run by couple Alison Reilly and Julien Lefebvre, the new restaurant is a traditional French Crêperie, where families can have a meal out comprised of galettes, crepes for dessert and Normandy cidre.

I’m a local, I grew up in Greystones and have always had my heart set on opening our creperie in my hometown. Julien is from Northern France and he’s the chef. He grew up making galettes and crepes with his mum and always had the dream to open his own creperie.
We have been together since we met in Dublin city eight years ago. Julien has spent the last while working in a creperie in Annecy, France (known as the Venice of the Alps) where we both lived for two years before coming back to Ireland last September when we found our perfect premises by Greystones Harbour.

The creperie offers ten different kinds of galettes, or savoury crepes, which are made with farine de sarrasin, the famous black (and gluten free) flour from Brittany, France. Among the savoury options are Végétarienne, made with tomato, grilled onion, and caramelized mushrooms, Provençale, made with ham, egg, emmental cheese, tomato and caramelised onions, and Savoyarde, made with delicious French smoked ham and white ham, raclette cheese and potato.

Apart from crepes, they also provide Movenpick ice cream with ten different flavours that are all free of artificial colours, flavours and additives. You can build your own ice cream bowl or choose from a selection of crêpes glacées, or ice cream crepes. Their sweet crepes with ice cream are topped with different sauces such as their homemade hot chocolate sauce, warm salted caramel butter, and strawberry coulis.

Since cider is the traditional French drink to pair with crepes, the creperie also serves Eric Bordelet Normandie Cidre. You can order by the bolée (traditional French ceramic cups for cider), pitcher or bottle. There’s also a selection of wines to choose from.
From the cider bolées to the French wine crates decorating the wall, La Crêperie aims to offer their customers the full French experience, with each table representing a different French city.

The couple have been astounded by the reaction from the people of Greystones to their new restaurant so far.

The response from the locals has been overwhelmingly wonderful! So much support from the town, and a positive welcome to our creperie, that, right away, I knew I was right to have held out for my hometown. We had over 1,000 likes on Facebook before we even opened our door, and our first day open was so busy, we ran out of flour! We are so delighted that so many people came to support our local business.
