The new season of Downton Abbey premieres tonight, and as per usual the internet is getting pretty stoked about it all.
But just as the anticipation is reaching fever pitch, a horrible realisation is dawning upon Irish viewers – they won’t be able to watch it, as UTV Ireland failed to secure the rights here.
So while it’s on UTV in the North – ie, the station we used to have here until the new channel started broadcasting in January – fans here will have to wait until Tuesday to watch it on TV3 instead.
And guess what? They’re not particularly happy about it, with most directing their rage at ‘the channel we never needed’.
Ah the ‘Downton isn’t on @UTVIreland‘ penny has dropped. Yet again the channel we never needed strikes again

No Downton Abbey for @UPCIreland customers. UTV Ireland joke of a channel.

Got all excited about Downton Abbey tonight and then realised it’s not on telly here until Tuesday now. This UTV Ireland business is a DOSE.

@UTVIreland isn’t showing downton abbey? UTV Ireland is the most useless station. No one wanted it. What are my mam and I supposed to do 🙁
