People in Toronto have held a memorial for a raccoon that was found dead on a public path...

... and what started as an off-hand Tweet quickly snowballed into an outpouring of social media grief.

After a long day of mourning, eventually a city worker came to remove the corpse.

He may be gone from Toronto's streets, but he will never leave Toronto's hearts.

One can only hope for a send-off half this ironic.

RIP #DeadRaccoonTO, we guess.
