As good as Irish music is, there’s a pretty set formula that has been observed over the years – to the way it’s played, how it’s played, where it’s played and even how the players look.
But every once in a while something completely different comes along, and today that is MOXIE. They’ve been knocking around playing gigs in the likes of Whelan’s for a while now, but the video below shows them playing live on BBC with a concert orchestra.
You wouldn’t have thought a few decades ago you’d see lads this age dancing around with a “look” that’s clearly been developed by a stylist. But never mind what they look like, because they sound awesome – and this video could really kickstart their career as a major force both in trad and pop music.
