Plot Twist: The Grand Canal Market Will “Continue To Serve Top Notch Street Food”

Sarah

It’s been a hectic morning for news about one of the city’s favourite food markets at Grand Canal.

First, it was reported that planning permission for the Percy Place market had been denied and the market would be shutting down.

Needless to say we were all devastated at Lovin Media Group HQ, as it’s an absolutely idyllic place to swing by on your lunch-break on a sunny day.

Now however, we can confirm that the market is determined to resist efforts to shut it down, and will continue operating in its usual spot.

Des Vallely of Irish Food Markets got in touch with us to say that:

“Whilst planning permission was turned down for the market, we can legally operate without the need for same and will continue to provide top notch street food despite the attempts of a few disgruntled residents and overpriced so called gourmet delicatessens to see us closed.”

“What doesn’t kill us only serves to make us stronger”, he added.

Des confirmed that although the planning refusal means they will have to “rejig things a little”, he can guarantee loyal customers that they will still have their favourite street food stalls every Friday.

Vive la street food!
