The rise of Wetherspoons continues in Dublin, with the chain officially set to open a new pub on Camden Street.
Dublin City Council has granted permission for a €4m conversion of the Camden Hall homeless hostel on the busy street into a 98-room hotel with bar and restaurant.
According to The Irish Times, plans to open a pub on Lower Abbey Street have been met with concern by the local authority, which expressed reservations over the changes required to the former Permanent TSB bank and Baptist Chapel buildings.
Wetherspoons already have three pubs in Dublin – The Forty Foot in Dun Laoghaire, Three Tun Tavern on Temple Road and The Great Wood in Blanchardstown.
