It shocked people in Dublin when it closed suddenly in the summertime but this famous Dublin pub is reopening after three month.

The Empire Bar in Swords is opening the doors of both its bar and restaurant but it will be under a new name.

The pub has gone under serious refurbishment and will be now known as ‘The Betsy’.

It will begin trading at on November 23 and is expected to be very busy coming up to the Christmas period.

The Empire went into liquidation and closed suddenly on August 7 but it has now been bought by a new owner.

Speaking to the Dublin Gazette, the new owner said that: “My vision is an inviting and upmarket eatery for locals and visitors, together with a range of elegant and classy boutique bars to service the fast-growing town of Swords and north Dublin.”

The Empire served food daily from 10am and was also a Late Bar Thursday to Sunday with Live Music from Thursday to Monday also.

It is not known if ‘The Betsy’ will follow the same opening times as its old establishment.
