You really can't bate an aul' pub carvery from time to time and now the best ones in the country are being recognised by the Great Carvery of the Year competition.

The annual event, now in its eighth year, acknowledges the best pubs and hotels in Ireland where one can find some top quality meat, veg, spuds and gravy.

The nominees are broken down into all four Irish provinces and lo and behold all three of Leinster's entries in the Great Carvery Pub Of The Year are in Dublin.

They are:

- Red Cow Inn, Naas Road, Dublin

- The 51 Bar, Haddington Road, Dublin

- Beaumont House, Beaumont, Dublin

As well as that, the capital is also represented in the trio of hotels in the category of Great Carvery Hotel Of The Year which are:

- Radisson Blu Hotel, Dublin Airport

- Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore, Offaly
