Outdoor Cinema Screenings And A Wine And Cheese Festival – The Best Things To Do In Dublin This Weekend

Kiara Keane

The weekend is finally here and even if the weather is looking like a bit of a washout, there’s still loads going on around the city to keep you busy. No need to stay stuck on the couch for the next couple of days, just read on and get planning…

Get last-minute tickets to the Wine and Cheese Festival

Combining two of the best things in life, the brilliant Wine and Cheese Festival is running at the Iveagh Gardens from now until Sunday; Saturday evening tickets are sold out, but you can still get your hands on some other daytime and evening tickets via their Eventbrite page. There are two time slots for each day of the festival – a daytime one from 12pm to 4.30pm, and an evening one from 5.30pm to 9.30pm.

The festival will have a whole host of independent Irish wine vendors and cheesemongers, as well as a tasting area with wine and drinks experts, live demos, a wine and cheese-themed Eatyard Stage, and music and entertainment from Bodytonic.

Spend the afternoon at a free outdoor cinema

If the rain holds off for the afternoon, two great films are being screened in the city centre on Saturday and best of all, it’s totally free. Wolfe Tone Square will be transformed into a fabulous outdoor cinema showing Disney’s The Incredibles at 2pm and Marvel Studios’ The Avengers at 4pm.

There will also be plenty of food trucks and stalls including Gino’s Gelato, Papa John’s Pizza, Camerino Bakery, The Church, The Tram Café, Cineworld Cinema, Eason, Shauna’s Pet Shop, Sub City Comics. Just make sure get down early and find yourself a good spot – and bring cushions, blankets and deck chairs to get comfy.
