You can find Leinster’s best pub roast in Dublin 9

Sarah Finnan

Sometimes all you need is a carvery to sort you out.

Mashed potatoes, gravy, more mashed potatoes, melted butter, ham, turkey, stuffing…the works.

Knowing where to go for a really good roast is tricky though. You don’t want to waste time that could be spent eating on picking a venue. Hanger is a real thing and it’s not pretty.

The good folk at Unilever Food Solutions have done us all a solid and compiled the winners of the Knorr Professional Ireland’s Great Roast 2019 competition into one handy list.

Previously known as the Great Carvery of the Year competition, the name may have been changed but the goal remains the same – find the country’s best roast.

Undoubtedly one of the top culinary awards, topping the Leinster section this year was Dublin’s own Beaumont House.

A regular on best carvery shortlists, theirs is a spread for the books. Delivering fresh, hearty food, a plate of this will warm you to your very soul.

The overall best pub roast winner was Griffin’s Bar in Galway while the Limerick Strand Hotel took home the gold in the hotel roast department.

I reckon a cross-country road trip to try the country’s best roasts would go down a treat. Who’s with me?
