A few fashion-y events have caught our eye this week worth checking out.
It’s not ALL about shopping, you know.
1. Let Them Wear Hats at Só Collective
If you haven’t checked out Só Collective yet, this is your chance. The new space, which opened earlier this year at Kildare Village, is dedicated to all things creative and Irish, from homewares and art to fashion, and this weekend it’s being taken over by hat makers.
Some of the best Irish milliners will be in store to talk about their creations, exhibit their best showpieces and offer advice to potential hat wearers.
The pieces on show here are so beautiful, whether you’re in to hats or not his is definitely worth having a look at. Laura Kinsella, John Sheviln, Martha Lynn and Aisling Ahern are just a few of the mad hatters who’ll be there. And it’s free.

2. CREATE at Brown Thomas
This is one of our favourite fashion events every year. BTs select a number of Irish designers to display and sell their work in store, and there are some really unique pieces up for grabs.
We popped in earlier in the week and fawned over Margaret O’Connor and Una Burke‘s pieces (her jewellery has been worn by everyone from Rihanna to Madonna and she even made pieces for The Hunger Games).
Check it out on the first floor of the store.

3. Fashion meets tech at Dublin Castle
The Global Irish Design Challenge exhibition in Dublin Castle explores new ways designers are reimagining our everyday lives (and wardrobes) through technology.
The fashion part of the expo is really cool – designer and curator Nora Ó’Murchú’s collaboration with graphic designer Hua Shu and Maria Cárdenas’ take on Irish linen are worth the visit to this free exhibit alone.

4. NCAD Afternoon Tea at The Westbury
This is very fancy. The Westbury are serving a fashion-y afternoon tea to the theme of this year’s NCAD graduate show. Yes, it’s fashion focused, but more importantly it’s delicious.

5. Dublin’s fashion walking tour
The Fitzwilliam Hotel on Stephen’s green have put together a free, downloadable walking tour podcast of the city, highlighting the best boutiques and little known fashion hubs.
You’ll be very thankful for this after all of that afternoon tea cake …
