With all the money being spent around Christmas, the last thing you’ll want to read is that Dublin rent has gone up. Well, we hate to be the bearers of bad news but that’s precisely what’s happened.
New data released by the Residential Tenancies Board and Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) shows that rent in the capital went up €141 in the third quarter of this year with the average Dublin monthly rent now at €1,620.
The figure is compared with the same period last year and shows an increase of nearly €12 per month. The data also revealed that demand for rental properties is at an unprecedented high with 1,778 fewer landlords compared to 2015.
Anyone else thinking of bailing on Christmas presents this year?
