19 Amazing Bits From Penneys That Will Have You All Set For Festival Season

Festival season (aka my favourite time of year) is about to begin, with the hordes set to flock to Kilmainham for Forbidden Fruit next weekend.

There’s something about heading to a festival that is good for the soul.

Thousands of people leaving the shackles of the daily grind and doing whatever they damn well please – whether that’s wearing head-to-toe glitter and a tutu, dancing like a maniac at 2pm in the afternoon or working your way from food stall to food stall over the course of the day.

Fashion has become almost as central to the festival experience as the music and it’s a great opportunity to throw convention out the window and have some fun with your wardrobe.

Penneys is always our go-to for cheap and cheerful festival style and there are some great bits in there at the moment.

The jacket

While we may be experiencing some gorgeous weather of late, the temperatures still drop in the evenings so always make sure to bring a jacket. Depending on the forecast, a leather jacket (to keep you warm) or a rain jacket (to keep you dry) are the two essentials.

Penneys have a great selection of options at the moment but this studded, embroidered leather number really stood out and is a bargain at €35. There’s no need to abandon your sartorial agenda when it comes to raincoats either, as this metallic one is pretty and practical (€30).

The shoes

It goes without saying that one should never travel to an Irish festival without a pair of wellies but if the weather stays nice, then embellished sandals are the perfect alternative.

From aztec prints to studded suede, you’ll be able to pick up a lovely pair for a few quid. These white ones (€8) are a great finishing touch to an outfit but if you want to opt for something a bit more cosy, throw on a pair of bright tennis shoes (€6).

The backpack

If all goes to plan, you’ll be pulling some serious shapes once your favourite acts hit the stage and the last thing you want is an awkward bag getting in the way. Bring only the basics – light rain jacket, ticket, cash etc – and pop them into a little backpack. We love these three, all priced under €15.

The accessories

The best way to add some personality to an outfit is to layer on the accessories and the jewellery selection at Penneys is ridiculously cheap, so you won’t mind if you lose it along the way.

If the sun is out, a decent hat will save you from getting a scalding and this one (€5) has a serious festival vibe.
