Everything You Need To Know About This Year’s Dublin Fashion Festival

jo

Every September, Dublin’s favourite stores pull out all the stops for the city’s Fashion Festival. If you haven’t been before, you can expect pop-up catwalk shows, loads of freebies, vouchers, prizes, special discounts and a surprise or two.

We thought we’d break it right down for you. Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s DFF.

It kicks off September 5th …

… and runs until September 11th. That’s a whole lot of retail joy.

Darren Kennedy is the host for this year’s fashion fest

He’ll be hosting fashion events throughout the run. Dapper man that he is.

This year is the biggest yet

In-store events, exhibitions, daily on-street catwalk shows, night-time runway spectaculars, glam stations, and the Creative Quarter Fashion Show are just a taste of what’ll be happening. You can check out the full programme of events here

The must see exhibition …

… Is Emily Quinn’s “Bring it All Back Home” which will be in situ in Powerscourt Townhouse. The award-winning photographer has captured Irish designers including Helen Steele, Una Burke and Emma Manley. This is totally free, just pop in over the course of the week for a peek.

Grafton St will become a runway

Saturday, September 10th, get on down to Grafton St from 2-5pm for the highlight of each year’s festival. There’ll be fashion shows, hair and make-up demos and with Galaxy as this year’s sponsor we expect free chocolate. Just saying.

The Young Designer of the Year Award is a fashion-lovers dream

Wednesday, September 7th in College Green, one lucky designer will be crowned Dublin Fashion Festival Designer. This is a really fun event and a great way to scout for new Irish design talent. Brendan Courtney and Sonya Lennon will host. We can’t wait (check out Roisin Lawrence from Griffith College Dublin, below).
