No Plans Tonight? This Great Band You Might Know From Electric Picnic Are Playing In Rathmines

James Fenton

If you’ve been to Electric Picnic over the years you’ll know that there’s a lot of talent to be found away from the main stage.

Take Dublin-based Afrobeat band Ájo Arkestra for example. The group played the Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow stage in 2015 and came away with a whole heap of new fans as the video below will attest.

Ájo Arkestra take influences from Afrobeat, Funk, Jazz, Rock, Hip-Hop, Soul and Dub and have also played at events such as Body and Soul Life Festival, Mela Festival Belfast, Cork Jazz Festival as well as the Button Factory and the Grand Social in Dublin.

Tonight, they will be appearing at one of the newest and best music venues in the city, namely The Bowery in Rathmines.

It will only cost you €5 at the door and the gig gets underway at 10pm. If you’ve nothing else on, why not go down and have a look?
