It has been reported that a 45-year-old man has been injured in a shooting at a house in Belcamp Cresent, Coolock, North County Dublin.

The attacker, a young man, entered his home shortly before midnight and fired an unknown amount of gunshots.

According to RTÉ, the culprit is being described as around 5'7" in height, wearing a balaclava, a navy coloured hooded top, black gloves and black runners.

It's believed that the victim suffered an apparent gunshot wound to his leg. He received medical attention at the scene before being taken to Beaumont Hospital. His injuries are being reported as non life-threatening.

The attacker fled from the scene on foot, hopping into a car which was parked nearby. A short time later, a blue BMW saloon was found partially burnt out just a few streets away, at Greenwood Walk.

A second car, a green Honda CRV, was also located close to Shamrock Cottages in the North Strand area.

Both vehicles have been seized for technical examination and investigations are ongoing.

No arrests have been made as of yet.

Gardaí are looking for anyone with information, particularly those who may have seen the two cars yesterday, to contact them at Coolock Garda Station on 01 6664200, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda station.
