A march highlighting the need for intervention in the housing crisis will take place in the city this afternoon.

The annual May Day march will begin at the Garden Of Remembrance at 2pm and travel towards Liberty Hall, where a rally will take place.

According to Newstalk, the demonstration is organised by Dublin Council of Trade Unions and the National Homeless and Housing Coalition and will focus on reinforcing the message that “housing is a right, not a privilege”.

Over 100 people sleep rough on Dublin’s streets every night.
