Bus Éireann Have Gone And Changed The 'Stand Clear, Luggage Doors Operating' Voice
Surely there should have been a referendum about this?
It's an institution of Irish life rivalled in importance only by Bosco and Barry's Tea.
But without so much as a cursory consultation to the rest of the nation, Bus Éireann have changed the iconic *beep* Stand Clear, Luggage Doors Operating *boop* voice.
And worse again, this has been slowly creeping into the system since late last year – and nobody was brave enough to stand up and say ENOUGH!
Only noticed the other day that the 'STAND CLEAR, LUGGAGE DOORS OPERATING' thing has been changed. Sad times.— Just Mick (@bassmastashadez) March 9, 2016
They've changed the 'stand clear luggage doors operating' voiceover on Bus Eireann buses from the usual culchie to a well-spoken woman.— David Monaghan (@IndefiniteDavid) February 26, 2016
The "stand clear, luggage doors operating" voice was done by a woman on a bus to galway today. #equality— Cian Dalton (@DaltonCian) December 18, 2015

Hi @Buseireann do you have any information on the re-recording of the 'stand clear luggage doors operating' message on newer buses? Thx, SG— Me, Stacy (@SilverStGroud) December 12, 2015
We fear this may go all the way to the top – we'll bring you more as we get it.
In the meantime, though... once more for the road.
