Bus Éireann Have Gone And Changed The 'Stand Clear, Luggage Doors Operating' Voice
Surely there should have been a referendum about this?
It's an institution of Irish life rivalled in importance only by Bosco and Barry's Tea.
But without so much as a cursory consultation to the rest of the nation, Bus Éireann have changed the iconic *beep* Stand Clear, Luggage Doors Operating *boop* voice.
And worse again, this has been slowly creeping into the system since late last year – and nobody was brave enough to stand up and say ENOUGH!
Only noticed the other day that the 'STAND CLEAR, LUGGAGE DOORS OPERATING' thing has been changed. Sad times.— MIᄃK (@bassmastashadez) March 9, 2016
They've changed the 'stand clear luggage doors operating' voiceover on Bus Eireann buses from the usual culchie to a well-spoken woman.— David Monaghan (@IndefiniteDavid) February 26, 2016
The "stand clear, luggage doors operating" voice was done by a woman on a bus to galway today. #equality— Cian Dalton (@DaltonCian) December 18, 2015

Hi @Buseireann do you have any information on the re-recording of the 'stand clear luggage doors operating' message on newer buses? Thx, SG— Stacy (@SilverStGroud) December 12, 2015
We fear this may go all the way to the top – we'll bring you more as we get it.
In the meantime, though... once more for the road.
