There doesn’t seem to be a day goes by in this country without people getting angry about high prices on everything, from houses to bottles of water.
Rip-off Ireland seems to be well and truly back after a few years off during the recession with the latest example being popcorn in the cinema.
And not even the freshly made stuff.
We have no problem paying a little bit more for top-quality goods, and there’s no denying that Chicago Popcorn is pretty bloody excellent. But 20c change from a tenner for two bags of popcorn.
Come on now.
@broadsheet_ie How much? 600g of popcorn cost €4.90 in swan centre rathmines! Outrageous #ripoff #rippoffireland pic.twitter.com/Kenkc1JhX1
