An evacuation alarm sparked mass confusion this morning as the PA system repeatedly told passengers to “evacuate the area immediately.”
Video footage shows bemused travellers standing around while unsure of the next step…
It would be great if staff at Dublin airport could provide some directions… pic.twitter.com/igcWlqiStT

The incident occurred just before 6.30am.
Dublin Airport put out a message on social media to advise ‘the system is stuck on evacuation mode’ and that there was ‘no evacuation’ of the area…
There is a fault with our PA system at our Pier 1 gates @DublinAirport. The system is stuck on evacuation mode. There is NO evacuation of this area. Our sound engineers are currently investigating.

A number of people posted on Twitter describing the experience…

@DublinAirport crazy scenario in terminal 1 being asked to evacuate but staff have no clue how to manage this.

This shambles in @DublinAirport is kind of funny, but also worryingly clear that if there were an emergency no-one there would have a clue what to do.

Alarms going off @DublinAirport saying to evacuate. Nobody moving, not even staff look bothered. Nice if someone announced what’s happening
