It is being reported this morning that a Garda is currently in hospital in Dublin after being brutally attacked.
The Garda in question was hit with a metal baseball bat in South Dublin at around 7:30pm on Saturday night.
At the time of the attack, two officers were searching for a man at Ballyogan Avenue, Dublin 18.
As they were searching him, a crowd gathered around the house and the baseball bat was produced.
One of the Gardaí involved in the searched was hit with the bat a number of times causing injuries to his body, head and face.
He was taken to Tallaght Hospital and is still currently there as of 12pm, Sunday afternoon.
Gardaí continued with a follow-up operation and armed Gardaí searched a house on Ballyogan Avenue where a man in his 50s was arrested and a number of items were seized.
The man is currently being held under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Dun Laoghaire Garda Station.
A second Garda was bitten by a dog during the search and was also taken to hospital where he received treatment.
