Beginning at 7am this morning, 80 Gardaí have been conducting searches on the residences of suspected members of the Kinahan cartel on Kevin Street and Pearse Street.

David Byrne, the man who was killed at the Regency Hotel shooting, was a member of the criminal organisation.

According to TheJournal.ie, the raids are part of an ongoing operation against gangs in Dublin, involving a number of specialist units such as the Special Detective Unit, Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, and the South Central Division Task Force.

No arrests have yet been made, but the operation is expected to go on most of the day.
