Gardaí have begun investigating CCTV footage of an alleged pub brawl involving a major Irish sports star.
According to the Irish Mirror, an official complaint has not been made but the celebrity could yet face charges relating to the incident. Reports emerged yesterday that the star allegedly punched the father of a major Dublin criminal. It's thought the gangster is willing to draw a line under the incident in return for a cash settlement.
A source told the publication:
"CCTV footage has been taken from the pub and is currently being examined.
"The matter is being looked into but as of yet no one has made a complaint.
"If a complaint is made, then gardai will see if there are ground for taking it further such as bringing an assault charge or charge of violent disorder."
Meanwhile, UFC boss Dana White has addressed online rumours that Conor McGregor is the celebrity in question saying:
"I don't think it's true because if it was true, it would be big. Conor can walk down the street and it's big news now. If this was true, I would just have to believe it was off the charts crazy."
