The George Open For Business Today Following Last Night’s Evacuation

Iconic Dublin bar The George has reopened with business as usual after an evacuation on Thursday evening.

The weekly Thirsty Thursday event with Davina Devine was in full swing when revellers were rushed out and four fire brigade vehicles arrived at the scene.

Twitter user Concon said: “We were in the middle of the drag show and it stopped suddenly and Davina [the host] said to ‘chat amongst yourselves’.

“She came back on and said that we needed to evacuate, so we were all on George’s street and the fire brigade came. The bouncers said that it was closed until further notice.”

Management have confirmed that there were no injuries and that the bar is open again.

They said in a statement:

‘Just an update in regards to the incident.. It’s all under control and everyone is safe.

‘We will keep you updated once we have more news, all is okay and all going well we should be reopened tomorrow with service as usual.’
