The General Election campaign hasn’t even begun, but already we’ve seen perhaps the most important issue we face as a nation brought to a head: can we all get hamsters?
The request was made to Knocklyon councillor Deirdre O’Donovan – who’s standing for the Independent Alliance in Dublin Southwest – after she left a calling card at one of her constituents’ doors.
It’s not clear at the time of writing whether the Independent Alliance has a cohesive policy on the distribution of hamsters – generally their members are free to vote on non-finance issues whichever way they please, so this depends on whether hamsters are included within those parameters.
However, for her part, Ms O’Donovan has certainly made it clear that she is not in favour of spreading happiness and joy into every home throughout the land.

What a shame.
What a real shame.
