They’ve pissed a lot of people off with sexist ads in the past, but there’s no doubt that Hunky Dorys know how to whip up a bit of controversy and grab the attention of their target audience.
And their latest campaign takes their unorthodox methods to whole new levels.
They’ve set up a fake Tinder profile featuring one of the female characters from their latest TV ad, and are offering users the chance to win a year’s supply of crisps by providing a top-notch chat-up line.
Here’s a screengrab of ‘Romy’ in action:
We reached out to Largo Foods to confirm whether or not this is an official campaign, or just someone having a laugh – and while we haven’t yet heard back, it does seem to tie in with their current activities given some of their recent tweets:

Hunky Dorys are first-rate,
If we go out,
It won’t be your worst date!#Tinder #CrispBreakers pic.twitter.com/rA2cq1aZ85— Hunky Dorys (@hunkydorys) December 10, 2015
Roses are red,
Hunky Dorys are choice,
Say yes to a date,
And watch me rejoice!#Tinder #CrispBreakers pic.twitter.com/f7MglKtwJv— Hunky Dorys (@hunkydorys) December 2, 2015
It may annoy a few people – and it certainly doesn’t carry the nobility of the celebrity-led campaign for organ donation we heard about earlier today, or Dublin agency EightyTwenty’s domestic violence awareness piece from last year, which made it to the pages of Time Magazine.
But it’s a clever way to use a platform pretty much no other brands are bothering with right now… not to mention a welcome depository for some of the shit chat-up lines people use on Tinder.
