Gardaí searching an area in Rathmichael in South Co. Dublin for missing woman, Jastine Valdez, have found her purse.

As reported by the Irish Times, her purse was found in a disused golf club in the south Dublin area.

Along with Killiney hill which was cordoned off earlier this morning, Rathmichael and an area known as 'The Scalp' are now being scoured by a large search team of gardaí, troops and Civil Defence personnel.

The garda helicopter is carrying out an aerial search while members of Civil Defence and the Defence Forces are helping out with ground search. Six army trucks arrived at the search this morning, according to RTÉ.

A man was shot in Cherrywood yesterday evening in the search for missing 24-year-old Jastine Valdez.

The man, in his forties, was armed with a knife when Gardaí approached him near the Dell Factory shortly after 8pm last night.

The man was fatally wounded and attempts by paramedics to revive him failed.

Jastine was not found at the scene of the shooting.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardai investigating the disappearance of Jastine Valdez interacted with the driver of a vehicle at approximately 8pm this evening the 20 May 2018 in the Cherrywood area of Dublin.

"An official Garda firearm was discharged. The incident has been referred to GSOC as per protocol.

"Gardai have located a 171 D Nissan Qashqui they had earlier appealed for at the scene of the shooting.

"Gardai continue to appeal for Jastine Valdez and also for anyone who may have seen the movements of the 171 D Nissan Qashqui since yesterday to 8pm today the 201th May 2018.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Bray Garda Station 01-6665300 the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."

Jastine, from Enniskerry in Co. Wicklow, was reported missing by her family late on Saturday night.

Gardaí received a report from a local woman who said she believed she saw a woman being forced into an SUV outside Enniskerry on that afternoon.
