Landlords Have The Power As 60% Of Tenants Have Difficulty In Getting Their Deposits Back

aidan

Three in every five tenants find it difficult to get their deposits back once their lease has ended, a new survey has revealed.

And with the Red C study also showing 8% increases in rent over the past year, as well as a 40% drop in the availability of properties, it very much paints a picture of an Ireland in which the landlords hold the power.

Students in particular have been hit by the shifts in the market, and with Leaving Cert results and CAO season fast approaching, the USI has called on more homeowners to let out rooms for students to live in ‘digs’.

The organisation will relaunch homes.usi.ie today, providing a hub for landlords to lease vacant rooms tax-free up to the value of €12,000 annually.
