Luas Drivers Are Now Considering An All Out Strike

Talks to settle disputes between the Luas’ operating company Transdev and its drivers broke down last night, and it now appears an all out strike is now likely.

It appeared in recent days that the disagreement over pay increases was nearing a conclusion, but yesterday evening both sides left the Workplace Relations Commission with no deal having been made.

Although drivers had reduced their pay demand by nearly half of their original figure, Transdev is still unwilling to give the raise.

If no further developments on made, the drivers will strike on St Patrick’s Day and Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
