A man in his 50s threatened to set himself on fire at Crumlin Church last night during a stand-off with armed gardaí.
According to Dublin Live, the unidentified man doused himself in petrol and stood on the altar of St Agnes’ Church with a lighter in his hand.
The incident took place shortly after 6pm and several units of the gardaí attended the scene.
It’s believed that they negotiated with the man for over an hour before he agreed to surrender himself.
He was then taken into custody and is expected to receive medical care over the coming days.
