A Big And Unusual Change Is Coming To One Of Dublin’s Most Famous Statues

Darragh Berry

“In Dublin’s fair city, where the girls are so pretty I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone.

“As she wheeled her wheelbarrow, through the streets broad and narrow, crying “cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh”

Ah good old Molly.

She is the subject of one of the greatest Irish songs in history and the renditions you hear on the Hill from Dublin supporters are among the best you’ll ever hear.

We love her on Grafton Street, we loved her when she was on the move and we’ll love her no matter where she goes or what happens to us.

So, when KFM Radio admitted that Molly Malone can now be heard by visitors, we’ve began to love the fishmonger that bit more.

In order to hear Molly, you must scan the QR code on the statue with your phone and then you will receive a phone call by Molly herself voiced by Maria Doyle Kennedy.

As well as being one of the most famous statues in the world, Molly is also part of Lovin Dublin’s 19 statues in Dublin that reflect exactly how you feel.

Molly makes us feel like: “When you buy a new bra and act all casual like you didn’t even know how great your tits look.”

Sure no wonder so many people set their eyes on her.

G’wan Molly.
