Thousands of commuters travel through Heuston Station for work every morning but many have been hit by delays today.

According to AA Roadwatch, a mechanical fault had led to significant delays on several services - including rush hour trains between Dublin and Portlaoise/Cork services.

All northbound and southbound services through Connolly were also delayed by the fault but all are believed to be back in operation now.

Take note if travelling this morning and keep an eye on the Irish Rail Twitter account for any further updates.
