Public servants including gardaí, nurses and teachers are set for a pay rise following the agreement of a new public sector pay deal, according to 98FM.

The move is set to benefit those on lower incomes and will also see the threshold pension levy rise.

Unions have mentioned that this deal would work out at around a 7% pay increase over the next three years, for up to three-quarters of Ireland’s public servants.

Talks kicked off between the government and more than 30 unions yesterday, running into the early hours of this morning.

These talks came to a halt at about 3am this morning, with Public Expenditure Minister Paschal Donohoe saying that he’ll now bring them to government, while the unions aer set to prepare to ballot their members on the deal.
