There’s A Huge Garda Presence On Dublin’s Streets Today For The Funeral Of David Byrne

The funeral for David Byrne, the victim of the Regency Hotel shooting, is taking place today and has necessitated a huge Garda presence on Dublin’s streets.

Taking place at the Church of St Nicolas of Myra on Francis Street, uniformed Gardaí are patrolling to prevent any further gang violence taking placing today, since the murder of Byrne (an associate of the Kinahan crime gang) and the reprisal murder of Eddie Hutch, brother of ‘The Monk’. 

Gardaí have closed roads in order to secure the area, but major traffic disruptions are not expected. The funeral was expected to begin at 12.30pm this afternoon.

According to TheJournal.ie, Byrne will be laid to rest at Mount Jerome Cemetery in Harold’s Cross later today.
