Driving in the city centre is already a bit of a nightmare but there’s set to be a new headache for drivers, with the introduction of new traffic management plans next week.
From next Sunday, there will only be one lane for cars along the quays from Bachelors Walk as part of efforts to improve public transport services in the city.
It’s good news if you travel by bus, bike or Luas though, as there will be two bus lanes and the new Luas line is set to open in December.

There will be an extra bus lane from Upper Ormond Quay to Eden Quay and on the south quays from Burgh Quay to Essex Quay, reducing cars to one lane on both sides of the Liffey.
Cars will not be able to turn right onto O’Connell Bridge and there will be a new bus priority traffic signal put in place to give way to public transport.
Maybe it’s time to avail of the Dublin Bikes…
