This Charity Is Sorting Out Sanitary Products For Homeless Women In The City

This is an incredibly thoughtful idea.

For homeless women, or women in crisis, it really is that dreaded time of the month.

With limited or no access to sanitary products, they’re often forced to go without. The incredible initiative that is The Homeless Period Dublin believes that tampons and towels should be made available to all women through homeless shelters, the same way the government provides condoms.

Great idea – but, how can we help?

Start slow.

During your weekly shop, pick up some extra tampons, sanitary pads and towels and drop them off at donation spots like the Simon Community.

That would be a huge help.

However, what is really needed at the moment are companies, organisations and groups who would volunteer to become drop off points for people who wish to donate tampons and towels.

Currently the Simon Community are distributing them, but if other premises sign up to becoming donation spots, then other charities can benefit too. So if any businesses, companies or establishments would like to put themselves forward – then get on to us and we can send on the relevant details.

Times are particularly tough this time of year, and it’s nice to remember that as we spend hundreds on gifts.

So simple, and so rewarding.
