A three-year-old girl who was taken to hospital after suffering injuries from an alleged assault in her south Dublin home on Saturday has died.

Zoe Cannon (3) had been in the intensive care unit of Our Lady’s Hospital in Crumlin since Saturday.

However, her life-support was terminated yesterday and she was pronounced dead, according to the Irish Independent

The toddler was allegedly assaulted by her mother Emer, who is believed to be in her 40s, in an upstairs bedroom of their house on Saturday evening.

The woman has since been charged with assault causing harm, and was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Shankill Garda Station.
