People really do fear change, as evidenced by the reaction of Twitter users to the social network’s latest update.
Twitter has just announced that its changing its star symbol, that users click the ‘favourite’ a tweet, to a heart. It’s also no longer a ‘favourite’, but a ‘like’.
Huh, wonder where they got that idea?
You can say a lot with a heart. Introducing a new way to show how you feel on Twitter: https://t.co/WKBEmORXNW pic.twitter.com/G4ZGe0rDTP

It’s already in effect, and this earth-shattering change has sent the website into a frenzy. Take a look at some of the reactions below.
WHAT’S WITH THE HEARTS

Hearts mean something, dummies, and “cute joke” is not it. I HATE CHANGE.

Who the hell snuck into my Twitter last night and replaced the stars with these stupid hearts?!?!? pic.twitter.com/a7i9C24lHt

The worst thing about the Twitter change is that I don’t have a heart.
— Patrick Smith (@psmith) November 3, 2015
Disclaimer: retweets do not = endorsement but hearts do *kinda* imply a crush

Hearts? Really Twitter? Why not lollipops, or sugardrop fairies made of rainbow smiles, sparkles, and a generous dollop of dreams?
— FineWhateverItsRicoHat (@Popehat) November 3, 2015
These hearts are going to make it weird when you’re trying to passive-aggressively take someone’s side in a Twitter row without tweeting.

“What if we change stars to hearts?”
“BRILLIANT!”— Mike Drucker (@MikeDrucker) November 3, 2015
Forget favs or hearts. The only button Twitter needs is ¯\_(?)_/¯.

Love hearts, Twitter? Really? I’d much prefer Care Bears.

I don’t come here for love. I come here for validation. Give me gold stars.
