Over 100 dogs were put to sleep at pounds run by Dublin City Council last year.
According to figures released by the Department Of Housing, Dublin had the sixth highest number of euthanizations in Ireland – with 109 dogs being put down in 2016.
According to Dublin Live, 1,522 dogs were killed across the country, with Limerick having the highest number (243 dogs).
A further 171 dogs were put to sleep in Wexford, 159 in Tipperary, 143 in Kerry and 129 in Clare.
A total of 1,423 dogs entered Dublin pounds, with just over 8% of these being euthanised.
