Back in September we learned that Fingal County Council had served notice on Starbucks on Harbour Road, Howth, to shut its doors for good – giving the cafe four weeks to close.
As it turned out, the owners hadn’t gotten planning permission to change the use of their property from a bike shop into a Starbucks.
The company that owns the Starbucks, Faynon, then made an application to the council to retain the Howth coffee shop on September 27, weeks after it had been given a closure deadline.
The council have now rejected this retention application on the basis that it is invalid.
