WATCH: Defiant Mancunians Spontaneously Break Into ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’

James Fenton

People around the world are still reeling from the tragic events at the Manchester Arena on Monday night but nowhere is the pain felt as much as in the city itself.

Mancunians of all races and creeds gathered for a minute’s silence today to honour the 22 people, many of whom were children, who died in the explosion and the many others who were injured.

While the moment was impeccably observed, what happened next was equally as powerful and emotional.

A lone woman started singing ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ by Mancunian favourites Oasis and it wasn’t long before everyone else started joining in.

The moment was captured by Josh Halliday of The Guardian and it really is something.

The message from the people of Manchester to those who tried to tear their city apart was clear: ‘You ain’t ever gonna burn our hearts out.’
