The Ink Factory – Tattoos, Piercings, Barbers & Great Coffee

emmakenneally

Tired of the coffee shops in the city and want to go somewhere totally new and poles apart from your usual haunt? Then The Ink Factory on Wellington Quay is a place you have to check out straight away. You can sip away on a cup of the good stuff while contemplating getting a tattoo, piercing or a haircut. Or if you have a curious/cruel streak like me you can just enjoy a coffee while hoping to watch someone else doing so.

The Ink Factory only opened up last week, and I wasn’t sure when I heard about it on Twitter if it would be amazing or just way too out there trying to be cool. I stopped in there today to escape the rain and get a cup of coffee though and really loved the place. There’s a surprisingly chilled out vibe there and the interior is edgy as you would expect with lovely wood and steel finishings and really interesting art on the walls. They have a nice little cushioned window seat as well if you’re lucky enough to nab it. The place is an entirely new concept for a space in the city, and I just love the idea of someone mashing together their passions into one place, even if they seem to clash at first. It gives a nice energy to the place.

The Ink Factory serves up delicious Fixx Coffee. I’m not the biggest coffee drinker but the cappuccino they served up was amazing. I enjoyed it while reading their magazines and hoping to overhear someone squealing with pain while getting a tattoo.

The team working in The Ink Factory are really friendly and good banter. I was slightly nervous going in that it would be a bit cliquey but they were so welcoming despite me being a non-tattooed square. They even tried to throw in a piercing with the coffee, I declined but appreciated the offer. I was thinking as I left that it’s probably a good thing they don’t sell alcohol in there as I definitely would have taken them up on it.

I know it might sound a little too random for some people, but trust me this is definitely a place to check out. And a perfect spot to sit back and people watch with a coffee for a while, and who knows you may emerge with a whole new look!
