The Dublin Farmer’s Market Hog Box You Need in Your Belly Right Now

emmakenneally

For the last few weeks I have been sharing my favourite Farmer’s Market food in Dublin because, well, I feel my extensive eating needs to serve some greater purpose other than just leaving me bloated but happy. Many people in Dublin will be familiar with this stall, but many are yet to discover the juicy, meaty goodness that awaits them in this most incredible hog box….

The Goode Life stall operates in the Temple Bar market every Saturday and the Dun Laoghaire farmer’s market every Sunday and serves up the most delicious spit roasted pork. You can get it in either a hog roll or a hog box and in one of three sizes, peckish, hungry or famished depending on how ravenous you are. I always get the hog box rather than the roll because the roll comes with salty fried potatoes, fried onions, stuffing, gravy, juicy pork and cracking if you’re lucky. It’s like a big juicy roast in a box.

I usually swing past it for lunch when I’m doing my groceries in the Temple Bar market, but I love visiting it in Dun Laoghaire on Sundays. It’s just the perfect lazy Sunday… A stroll along the pier followed by essentially a Sunday roast without the effort for €7. Make sure to take the crackling if they offer it to you, it’s incredible.
