Picture the scene: It's a sunny weekend, you've promised yourself you'll be on your very best behaviour with the other half and yet you find yourself getting a little antsy as they STILL cannot make up their mind where to go for brekkie. And you're staaaaarving.
Sound familiar? Maybe it's just me but that seems to sum up pretty much every single one of my weekends.
Which is why when I (finally) decided to check out Beckett & Bull last weekend it was such a godsend of a brunch spot that I knew it would now be a permanent spot to go to when I'm in need of a tasty feed.
It's the kinda place where literally everything on the menu sounds SO tempting.
They've got fluffy blueberry pancakes, huevos rancheros, juicy burgers and the most perfect Eggs Benedict you'll ever try.
With bright, white brickwork at the front bar you instantly get a laid-back NYC vibe, and there's a really chilled conservatory area at the back that's filled with light on a sunny day.
I got a Crab Benedict, and it was genuinely one of the nicest brunch dishes I've had in Dublin. The eggs were perfectly poached, the muffin fresh and soft, and the crab meat itself was so flavoursome without overpowering the dish.
Oh, and it comes with crispy li'l fried potatoes.
My greedier dining partner's eyes literally lit up when he saw the lamb burger.
With chargrilled lamb mince, feta cheese, homefries and a cumin mayonnaise, it was pretty amazing. Everywhere in Dublin should start serving cumin mayo because it is a feckin' revelation.
Service was really chilled, they do a brill range of cocktails and you can walk off your food-babies with a stroll back down the canal towards town.
If you're there for brunch between 10am - 12.30pm they do a brilliant value prix-fix deal: €18 for any brunch item, a cocktail, AND tea or coffee. Yep, this is going to be my new local alright.
