This Quirky Café Is Off The Beaten Track But Absolutely IDEAL For Baby Showers

Megan Cassidy

Cakes with drippy icing that look like they’re straight out of Wonderland, giant pink fringed chandeliers and cosy mismatched couches – FOAM café on Strand Street is one of the most instagrammable spots in Dublin.

Tucked in behind the Italian quarter, its shiny, circus-style sign is a like a little twinkling wink inviting you in.

Chock-full of knick knacks and clashing patterns, it’s a massively popular spot for coffees and decandent fresh cakes.

Just LOOK at this afternoon set-up.

I was invited along to a baby shower in the upstairs area recently, and with minimum bunting required, the place looked like an elaborate celebration.

Low hanging topsy turvy lights and chandeliers are the main feature, with couches, artwork, and Stranger Things-style string lights fighting for space.

(Tall folks beware – a friend of mine got her high ponytail stuck in a light fixture. Endless entertainment for us, not great for her sleek finish.)

The afternoon tea is absolutely delicious – three tiers of sweet and savoury bites served with Prosecco.

There is a decent bar offering, with beer and house wine on offer, and friendly table service.

We were left to our own devices with baby shower games etc, and the place is set up so that large groups can roam around easily without feeling stuck to your table.

The space is available for private or corporate events but I would recommend booking well in advance.

Best part – no clean up after.

There was a little bit of messing around when it came to getting the bar bill sorted – but this could have been down to new staff and a busy day.

Maybe check it out for an office Christmas lunch?

Be sure to let us know what you thought if you do.
