To celebrate the big day, we’ve put together the ultimate list of spots serving up Don Julio and Casamigos Palomas.
May 22nd is World Paloma Day, a day dedicated to the tequila-based cocktail.
In recent years, the Paloma has grown in popularity, especially in Ireland and Europe, generally. It’s jumped from the eleventh most popular cocktail in Europe to the ninth, and we can understand why.
To ring in World Paloma Day, we’ve put together a nifty little guide on all things Paloma – from what it is to how to our top Dublin venues serving them up.
So, what exactly is a Paloma?
A Paloma is a Mexican tequila-based cocktail that’s light and refreshing. It’s pink in colour and often served with a slice of grapefruit.
How can I make one?
To make a Paloma, combine 35ml Blanco Tequila, such as Don Julio or Casamigos, 10ml lime juice and 120ml grapefruit soda. Serve it up in a highball over ice.
If you’re wondering which Blanco Tequila to opt for, keep this in mind. Casamigos is a sweeter liquid, while Don Julio would be more popular with those who know their tequilas well. Casamigos is the more popular Blanco Tequila brand globally, while Don Julio is the number one tequila in Mexico.
If you’d rather go out for a Paloma, here’s where we recommend:

Soak up the rays in Lennan’s Yard Don Julio Terrace and Don Julio bar – the perfect place for a Paloma in the sunshine.

Suertudo

One of Dublin’s newest Mexican spots, Suertudo offers authentic Mexican cuisine and Don Julio cocktails. They even offer a spicy twist on the Paloma.

House Dublin is home to one of the city’s best terraces – and they’re also pouring up delicious Don Julio cocktails while keeping their menus fresh.
37 Dawson Street

With table service, Don Julio Blanco Palomas and dancing, 37 Dawson Street is a late night venue offering it all.

The Westbury

The Westbury is, without a doubt, one of the city’s most chic spots for a cocktail, which is why it has warranted a spot on our list ahead of World Paloma Day. Take in the splendour with a Don Julio Paloma in hand.
