FAO Schwarz At Arnotts Is On The Hunt For The Most Talented People This Week

Brian Dillon

Earlier this year, it was revealed that FAO Schwarz, the iconic New York City toy store, would be opening its doors in Dublin just in time for Christmas.

Well, the time is almost upon us, and we are super excited to check it out and release our inner child. But in the meantime, they are on the hunt for some of the most talented folk for the new store.

Are you a musician? Perhaps you fancy yourself as a juggler? Or maybe you’re just a wonderfully bubbly human. Either way, they want to hear from you.

On Thursday, September 5 between 10.30am and 11.30am, FAO Schwarz at Arnotts will be holding auditions for these roles in Smock Alley Theatre on Exchange Street Lower, Temple Bar.

The store is set to open on October 30, and it’s fair to say that we are excited.

Many of us will be familiar with the iconic New York toy store from the hit 1988 Tom Hanks movie Big, where he danced on the giant piano. Fancy dancing on the piano yourself? Well, they’re on the hunt for that as well.

FAO’s dream is to “create a magical toy emporium by creating a theatrical experience to showcase merchandise in a way that would bring it to life”.

For your audition, they want to assess how you would bring this theatrical experience to life by selling a Toy in the most creative and engaging way. You will be invited on stage by the MC and there will be a range of FAO Schwarz Toys to choose from. You will have to create an instore scenario and perform it back to the Panel.

Be creative and think outside the box. Singing, dancing, storytelling, acting- nothing is off limits!

And you never know, you might be one of the 40-50 lucky individuals to get the job.
